Weekend workshop
Learn to do
weaving and other textile techniques
using metal wire
Teacher: Mette Haulrik
I have been working with and creating jewellery using weaving and braiding techniques for many years. Through this workshop I would like to share my knowledge with you and show you the amazing possibilities in working with wire.
Through the workshop you’ll acquire basic knowledge to allow you to further develop your own ideas using textile techniques. You will be creating a variety of samples in copper wire and you will receive worksheets with descriptions of the procedures involved in the different techniques and ideas for how to make variations of the samples. The samples will include weaving techniques, a square braid, a hollow round braid and a braiding technique that can be twisted into a triangular shape.
Basic annealing skills are an advantage.

Mette Haulrik
Over the years I have worked in different areas of the arts including textiles, painting and drawing. For the last 15 years I have been working with jewellery. My interest for jewellery design started as a teenager when I wanted to wear soWeekend workshop Learn to do weaving and other textile techniques using metal wire Teacher: Mette Haulrik mething different to what I could buy and through training and self-study I have refined and perfected my work.
I try to translate the colour and fluidity of painting and the tactile feeling of textiles into my work to create unique pieces of wearable art. I have participated in various exhibitions around Sydney.
“My work is influenced by the elegant simplicity of Danish design. I am attracted to the weaving of silver and gold wire, which results in fluid yet accurate creations with clean lines and a huge variety of tactile expressions.”

Just wanted to let you know that I now only have two spots left at the weekend workshop. I have enough people to run the class so it is definitely going ahead. But hurry if you want to do the workshop.
