Textile Artist
Elizabeth joined the NSCG in 2006. She is a member of ATASDA and the Embroiderer’s Guild UK and NSW. Her work has been published in the Embroidery and Cross Stitch Magazine and in the American magazine, Sewing, Quilting and Embroidery Professional.
Elizabeth has exhibited in several exhibitions in Australia and has had her work accepted for the Up Over, Downunder Exhibition in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.
Her source of inspiration is the natural world, landscapes and the flow of Australia. The landscapes are completed using basic stitches. She spends a great deal of time, sometimes as many as 400 hours, making the landscapes as realistic as possible, and as a result has had many comments that the embroideries look realistic with the light of watercolour paintings.
The main focus of her work is to hopefully illustrate that needlework, or indeed any textile technique, has a place in the legitimate art world so that it is appreciated and valued as much as any other medium.
